What is Blonzing? The Viral Makeup Trend Taking Over Our Vanity This Season!

Discover the viral makeup trend ‘Blonzing’—the perfect blend of blush and bronzer for a sun-kissed glow, with expert tips from makeup artist Bianca Louzado.

Here’s a little confession: mastering the art of makeup is a journey, and we’ve all had our fair share of ‘oops’ moments. I know I’ve had mine—mixing blush and bronzer many times! But guess what? It’s now become this fall’s full-fledged viral beauty trend: ‘Blonzing.’ As exotic as the word sounds, it’s a soft blend of blush and bronzer that creates a glistening, sun-kissed, warm look. It simplifies your beauty routine by giving you the best of both worlds—blush and bronzer. Whether you’re a maximalist or a fan of the ‘less is more’ approach, this trend will save you time while delivering a radiant, effortless glow.

If you do a quick search for this viral trend on Google, you’ll be flooded with people using Rhode’s Toasted Teddy Pocket Blush and Huda’s new Icy Blush Filter shade in Latte to achieve the perfect blending look. Another great option to perfect this look is the e.l.f. Cosmetics Monochromatic Multi Stick in Bronzed Cherry, which gives you that radiant glow.

We caught up with the renowned makeup artist Bianca Louzado to discuss the latest viral trend, blonzing, and she shared some useful insights on how to master this glowing look.

Why Bianca? She is India’s leading bridal & celebrity makeup artist, and has an eye for spotting trends from fads. She has worked with stars like Priyanka Chopra, Gauri Khan, Sania Mirza, and Manushi Chhillar, to name a few and is the winner of the Best Bridal Makeup award at the WeddingSutra Influencer Awards 2024. Bianca is also the founder of Masters of Makeup and Code Beauty, making her a key name in the beauty world, and at Lavenderoom we love her.

1) How can people incorporate this viral trend into their daily makeup routines?

Bianca : Blonzing, as the word suggests, is a combination of using bronzer and blush.
It adds gorgeous warmth, dimension, and a sun-kissed finish. To incorporate it seamlessly, follow these two steps:

  1. Substitute bronzer and blush: Use a multi-purpose product that combines bronzing and blush for quicker application. Apply it to the cheeks, temples, and the bridge of the nose for a lifted, natural look.
  2. Layer it in your daily routine: Start with a light layer of bronzer to create depth, then lightly layer a peachy or pink blush for a soft flush of colour.

2) What tools and techniques are used to achieve a flawless ‘Blonzing’ effect?

Bianca: An angular brush is ideal for applying bronzer and blush, as the angle helps blend the products naturally along the cheekbones. You can also use a beauty blender when applying liquid formulas. Always apply bronzer first to define the contours, followed by liquid blush.

3) How can ‘Blonzing’ be customised to suit Indian skin tones and undertones?

Bianca: I would say choosing the right shades for both bronzers and blush is imperative. To add warmth, one must look for soft peachy or pink blushes with a warm undertone or light to medium bronzers with a golden or neutral undertone.

4) What are the common mistakes to avoid while trying ‘Blonzing’?

Bianca: Do not apply too much product; be light-handed and build up gradually. Knowing where to place the bronzer and blush is essential, as correct placement is key.

5) What are your top product recommendations for achieving the perfect Blonzed look?

Bianca: I use the Westman Atelier bronzer, which is a very lightweight and buildable bronzer that works well for various skin tones. After blending it upward, I layer it with a liquid blush, such as the NARS Orgasm Blush—this marriage of the two is a perfect blend.

The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Multi-Glow can be used as both a bronzer and blush, giving a sun-kissed glow with a subtle highlight.

Another favourite combination is the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Palette to sculpt the face, followed by a touch of the prettiest cream blush by Armani (Neo Nude Melting Color Cream Blush).

Westman Atelier: Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer

NARS Blush: Orgasm

Charlotte Tilbury: Pillow Talk Multi-Glow

Armani: Neo Nude Melting Color Balm

Tom Ford: Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo
