If you’re in your mid-20s and just beginning to explore wellness beyond skincare trends and social media hacks, this evening felt like a quiet reset. It made me realise that oils aren’t just about fragrance—they’re about how we feel, how we manage stress, and how small rituals can subtly shift our energy through the day.
Hosted by Aparna Gupta, founder of Lavenderoom, the evening unfolded as an intimate and thoughtful conversation between Mira Kapoor, founder of Dhun Wellness and co-founder of Akind Beauty, and Dr Blossom Kochhar, founder of Aroma Magic. Aparna introduced Dr Blossom as a pioneer of aromatherapy and holistic beauty—and as the session progressed, it became clear why her work has shaped how so many of us understand oils today.

Making Oils Therapeutic, Not Just Luxurious
Mira began by sharing the philosophy behind Dhun Wellness’s massages and therapies: oils are meant to be therapeutic, not just indulgent. Skin, she explained, is the body’s largest organ. Whatever we apply doesn’t simply sit on the surface—it communicates with our entire system.
At Dhun Wellness, the most common concerns clients come in with are burnout and stress—something that felt instantly relatable. These insights shape how their therapies are designed. Every oil, every movement, every ritual is created to work deeper than relaxation, helping restore balance rather than offering a temporary escape.
Lavenderoom takeaway: Wellness isn’t about doing more—it’s about choosing more consciously.
Fragrance Frequency: The Energy You Don’t See, But Feel
One of the most fascinating ideas introduced during the evening was fragrance frequency. High frequency, we were told, is where things flow—moods lift, energy feels lighter, and life feels easier. Low frequency shows up as fatigue, dullness, and even bad hair days (which suddenly felt very real).
Dr Blossom explained that the quality of an oil directly affects this frequency. French lavender, for instance, is prized because it’s grown under ideal conditions—soil, climate, environment, and care all matter. The result is an oil that doesn’t just smell calming but actually shifts mood and energy.
Lavenderoom takeaway: With oils, quality changes the experience completely.

Ayurveda and Doshas, Made Easy
The conversation then turned to Ayurveda, with Mira and Dr Blossom breaking down Vata, Pitta, and Kapha in a way that finally made sense.
Vata personalities are always thinking—often creative, often stressed, sometimes showing up as flyaway hair.
Pitta types tend to hold anger and experience digestive imbalances.
Kapha types are slow, grounded, and often blessed with strong hair and calm energy.
At Dhun Wellness, oils are chosen only after clients understand their dosha—helping them see not just what they need, but why.
Lavenderoom takeaway: Personalisation matters more than trends.
Oils That Work on the Mind and Nervous System
Dr Blossom shared that oils don’t just work on the body—they influence the mind, body, and nervous system together. Aromatherapy has seen a strong comeback post-Covid as people look for natural, grounding ways to manage anxiety and emotional stress.
During the session, we tried rose oil, and the experience genuinely felt like sitting in a quiet garden on a cozy afternoon. Lavender, Dr Blossom explained, calms your frequency and supports sleep, while rosemary does the opposite—it lifts energy and mental clarity.
Lavenderoom takeaway: Choose oils based on how you want to feel, not just how you want to smell.
Healing Oils: Real-Life Fixes
Dr Blossom then took over with the highlight of the evening—a clear, practical guide to essential oils and how to use them in everyday life.
1. Sandalwood – Helps with stress, fear, and anxiety; works beautifully as a natural perfume and for dry skin. Deeply relaxing.
2. Patchouli – Mix with castor oil or almond oil for an effective anti-ageing blend.
3. Lemon – Antibacterial and refreshing; ideal for bath water or diffusers.
4. Rosemary – Excellent for hair health. Blend and use for hair massage; also known to lift low moods and Monday blues.
5. Peppermint – Supports hair health and mental clarity. Use in the shower to feel instantly refreshed.
6. Neroli – Excellent for stress relief. Apply on the collarbone and the hollows below it; also beneficial for skin.
7. Eucalyptus – Ideal for colds and hair health. Use in your final rinse to help tackle dandruff.
8. Basil (Krishna Tulsi) – Associated with abundance. Use on cotton or spray with water at home; boosts immunity and keeps pests away.
9. Lemongrass – Supports digestion and stomach health. Combine with peppermint or mint in tea for digestion and relaxation.
10. Coconut oil rituals – Apply a few drops in the nose every morning. Gargle with coconut oil, warm water, and salt when you have a sore throat.
11. Ylang Ylang – Use a single drop on dry hair for instant shine.
Dr Blossom also shared that lavender and ylang ylang are her personal favourites.

Thanks to Aparna’s thoughtful hosting and the honest, knowledge-rich exchange between Mira and Dr Blossom, the evening served as a gentle reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Sometimes, it really does begin with a single drop of oil.
