Health Coach Ananya Bhandare Shares 4 No-Fuss, No-Muss Smoothie Bowl Recipes To Try

The hot and humid weather always leaves my body craving something cool that’s not overly filling. Enter smoothie bowls—smoothies but thick enough to be scooped up with a spoon. You might have already seen those satisfying, beautiful bowls on your Instagram feed with vibrant colours and delicious toppings.

Is there a hack to get it right? It’s no news that smoothie bowls don’t require actual cooking; they’re all about assembling. They’re easy to make and offer many health benefits.

SMOOTH(IE) SAILING

When made right, a smoothie bowl can become a meal replacement — filled with nutrients and filling enough. I often have them for breakfast or even as dessert. All four smoothie bowl recipes I have noted below have been in the rotation this season and have distinct flavour profiles. I pick which one I want depending on my mood and the occasion. For example, the creamy and decadent ‘energize smoothie bowl’ is often my dessert when I crave something sweet but healthy, the ‘calm smoothie bowl’ is my quick breakfast for busy mornings, the ‘glow smoothie bowl’ is my detox selection for when I’ve had too many meals outside.

4 QUICK & EASY SMOOTHIE RECIPES TO TRY

I choose this bowl when I need a reset. It is filled with skin-boosting ingredients that detoxify the body.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Glow bar by Jungly Delights
  • A small handful of spinach
  • 1 frozen mango
  • 1/4 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 an avocado

Topping Suggestions:

Mango, banana, Jungly Delights bars, granola, sunflower seeds, flax seeds

Method:

Blend all the ingredients together, pour into your favorite bowl, and decorate with the suggested toppings.

4 PRO TIPS TO GET THE SMOOTHIE RIGHT

  1. Use frozen fruits to make your smoothie extra creamy. Next time you have extra-ripe fruit at home, slice it and store it in the freezer for your next smoothie bowl instead of throwing it away.
  2. Add only a little coconut water, almond milk, or liquid. You want your smoothie bowl thicker than a regular smoothie so you can scoop it up with a spoon (otherwise, it’s just a regular smoothie).
  3. Chop your banana, bars, and other ingredients into small pieces so that they blend easily. You don’t need to add excess liquid to mix all the ingredients.
  4. Make your own almond milk at home to ensure it is clean. Store-bought ones have way too many unnecessary and artificial ingredients. You just need almonds and water.
